Why choose a brass housing over a steel housing?
When a magnet with a steel housing is pressed into a steel mold, a portion of the magnetic force "leaks" into the mold (short-circuiting). Brass is a non-ferrous, non-magnetic material that forces all magnetic flux to the face of the magnet, ensuring maximum effective holding force.

What does an h6 fit tolerance mean for this magnet?
The h6 standard is a highly precise industrial fit tolerance for the outer diameter of the cylinder. This ensures that the magnet fits perfectly into custom-bored or reamed holes with a standard tolerance (such as H7), making it ideal for accurate press-fit assembly.

Am I allowed to shorten or machine a brass deep pot magnet myself?
The section containing the neodymium magnet core must never be machined, as this will destroy the magnet system. On specific models, there is a solid brass surface or threaded section at the rear (above the magnet) that can be slightly modified afterwards (typically up to a few millimeters maximum). When in doubt, always consult our technical drawing beforehand.

Are there alternative options for applications exceeding 80°C?
Neodymium permanently loses its magnetic force starting at 80°C. If your mold or machine operates at higher temperatures, we can manufacture these brass h6 systems with a Samarium-Cobalt (SmCo) core upon request, which withstands temperatures up to 250°C.
