The stated holding force is a guaranteed maximum value, provided the magnet interfaces directly and across its entire surface with a ferromagnetic counterpart that is smooth and thick enough. If the counter-plate is too thin, or if an air gap is created by roughness or a thick layer of paint, the effective holding force will decrease significantly. Additionally, for wall mounting, please consider that due to lower friction, the shear force (sliding load parallel to the wall) amounts to approximately 15% to 20% of the nominal perpendicular holding force.
