The Pot Magnet Principle with Ferrite

A loose ferrite magnet radiates its magnetic field in all directions, losing a lot of strength at the back and sides. In a pot magnet system, the ferrite core is encapsulated in a zinc-coated steel cup. This housing redirects the magnetic flux and concentrates the full holding force onto the exposed, active pole sheet. This maximizes the holding power upon direct contact with a metallic counterpart and protects the ferrite core from mechanical impacts.
